NISSAN/INFINITI
During my time at George P. Johnson, I was fortunate enough to work heavily with the Nissan/INFINITI client to meet their design and creative needs. My relationship with the Nissan team was to collaborate with their events team to bring high-impact experiential programs to media and customers alike. Over several years, these projects challenged me with both digital and print design to create unique experiences from start to finish, and solve complex logistics projects to ensure the needs of the client were met within tight budgets and deadlines.
Z NISMO PRESS REVEAL
ART DIRECTOR/ LEAD 2D DESIGNER
The Challenge:
Host an exclusive press release to automotive media to reveal the long-awaited Z Nismo on a particularly tight budget.
The Approach:
Leverage a historic automotive store facility in Los Angeles for a one day only press event to generate wide-scale buzz to car enthusiasts worldwide for the Z Nismo edition.
The Result:
A high impact event which showcased the complexities of the Z Nismo while entertaining guests with hospitality offering, live events, speeches and celebrity appearances.
TEASE
Before the event took place, an email campaign released to automotive media contacts inviting them to a mysterious Nismo reveal which took place the historic Auto Conduct, but unassuming location tucked away in the warehouse district of LA.
ENTERTAIN
The importance of hospitality and entertainment at events and press released cannot be underestimated. An increase in journalist enjoyment directly influences how articles about products are written and perceived by readers. Being a sports car, I knew the entertainment needed to be exciting and fast paced. Enlisting a legend in LA automotive art, Pinstripe Chris was given a Z Nismo wrapped in white vinyl to hand draw artwork with sharpie while he entertains guests with stories and anecdotes of his passion for automotive. A new and upcoming DJ was hired on to bring an electric atmosphere that filled the space with music, without being inappropriate or distracting to media journalists. Lastly, a performative bartender thrilled guests with custom cocktails mixed with breath-holding antics and bottle flips.
REVEAL
While the entertainment was exciting for guests, I knew a few more surprises needed to be in store. When it was time to reveal the car, the music stopped, the lights turned out and a red light and alarm demanded guest’s attention. The bay doors slowly opened as the exhaust of the Z Nismo began to roar through the building. The vehicle slowly drove into the garage and into place to reveal the driver to be non other than professional race car driver, Chris Forsberg. Following an appearance by the president of Nissan NISMO division to discuss the performance enhancements and technology was meticulously planned for the Nissan Z.
